Newly widowed Marilou inherits the town's only barbershop from her dead husband and musters the courage to take over. She fails to attract any customers until being befriended by Rosa, a prostitute in a local brothel. Rosa urges her co-workers to pressure their male clientele into patronizing Marilou's barbershop, fearing Rosa will expose their infidelities to their wives.
