Set in the steppes of Mongolia, a pilot dies, and his son Bagi grows up herding sheep. After their animals fall victim to a plague, his family and tribe are forced off the land. Baji gets a job as a miner, but his epileptic visions foretell devastated lands, and he must find the right path for his people.
