Rosie Ming, a 20-year-old Canadian who is half-Chinese and half- Iranian, has never left the country or her overprotective Chinese grandparents. When her book of poems gets published and she is invited to a poetry festival in Shiraz, Iran, Rosie decides to visit the homeland of her father, who abandoned her when she was seven.
