Young violinist Xiaochun is a prodigy, and so he and his father move from their small, provincial town to Beijing, where Xiaochun can audition for a prestigious music academy. The father is willing to sacrifice and find the means to fund his success, but the son eventually struggles to accept the path laid before him.
