In this update of director Ozu's "Tokyo Story", a retired schoolteacher and his wife visit their three busy children in modern-day Tokyo. The eldest son Koichi runs a hospital. Their daughter Shigeko runs a beauty salon. The younger son Shuji works in stage art. Time has passed, and the parents and children attempt to bridge the gulf between each other.
